The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has been honoured with a Nigeria Excellence Award in Public Service (NEAPS).
The award—an initiative of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation in partnership with The Best Strategic Media—was presented at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja. The event drew a distinguished audience including state governors, ministers, heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), as well as key players from the private sector.
Representing President Bola Tinubu, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. George Akume, said the awards were created to celebrate outstanding performance in public service. According to him, the initiative recognizes individuals whose contributions have significantly advanced national development.
“The awards are instituted to recognise excellent service delivery by public office holders towards the transformation of the country,” he stated.
Akume added that recipients were carefully selected based on exceptional performance. “Only 44 outstanding chief executives across all appointees and governors received the award,” he noted.
Olukoyede was recognized for his exemplary leadership in strengthening the EFCC’s anti-corruption mandate. Under his watch, the Commission achieved recoveries running into hundreds of billions of naira, traced and reclaimed substantial assets, and intensified the fight against money laundering.
His reforms also played a key role in securing Nigeria’s removal from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list in October 2025, marking a significant improvement in the nation’s financial integrity and compliance standards.
Other honorees included five state governors, ministers, and several top heads of MDAs.
