Nigeria’s Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr Tunji Alausa, has said that the Federal Government is willing to support the Lagos State Government to ensure more affordable and accessible healthcare service delivery to its residents.
Dr Alausa made the pledge when he paid a courtesy visit to the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, at the Lagos House in Lagos state.
A statement by the Director of Media and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Health, Patricia Deworitshe quoted the Minister as saying, “What we have is not working the way it should. Our indicators are quite appalling, but we have a mandate given to us by President Bola Tinubu to reshape, revitalise and get the healthcare system to where it should be, where citizens can have comprehensive healthcare.
“Lagos State has done reasonably well, and that’s one of the reasons why I am here to see how we can assist you to do better because if we are able to get it right in Lagos, we can begin to replicate this across other States in the Country. I urged the Lagos Government to further assist its resident’s key into the State Health Insurance Policies.”
Governor Sanwo-Olu assured the Minister of the willingness and readiness of Lagos State to collaborate with the Federal Government in areas of expertise to help complement what is being done in the state.
