The Lagos State Government has charged the personnel of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority to take their jobs seriously, stressing that efficient traffic management is to the state’s economic growth.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s Special Adviser on Transportation, Sola Giwa, spoke during the ongoing training of 250 LASTMA officials.
According to him, “To whom much is given much is expected, you are an essential part of Lagos, we know that you were the face of Lagos and should return to being the face of Lagos.
“We consider it a task to train, re-train and continue to train you. We need to change the present perspective that traffic management is made up of rogues of the society, it is a job that comes with a lot of responsibilities, it is dignifying and it has a career part.”
He explained that, “The training is not about stopping traffic, because there will always be traffic, but it is to prevent major incidents from happening so that the economy of Lagos and that of Nigeria will grow.
“The job of traffic management is very important because it contributes and improves the commerce of Lagos, as Lagos is the major driving force of the country’s economy.”
LASTMA spokesperson, Adebayo Taofiq, in a statement, said the training was in line with the ongoing strategic re-positioning of operatives of the agency.
