NCC marks IWD 2024, commends women’s resilience

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) on Friday celebrated the International Women’s Day, appreciating the laudable contributions and resilience of women across the globe.

The Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Dr. Aminu Maida, used the opportunity to reiterate the need for a special focus on women in Nigerian society.

Speaking during the Commission’s commemoration of this year’s edition at the NCC Headquarters, Abuja, he said the Nigerian Communications Commission is happy to celebrate the wonderful and commendable strides of women in all spheres of life, adding that “at NCC, we recognize the immense value that diversity brings to our workplace, and we are committed to fostering an environment where women are empowered and included.

“As we celebrate women today (Friday), we invite the government, corporate Nigeria, and the telecom and ICT industry, to join us in building and nurturing an ecosystem that promotes talent and skills for our female gender, while promoting equal opportunities for their growth and advancement.”

International Women’s Day marked every 8th of March, is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality. The theme of the celebration this year is “Invest in women: Accelerate progress”
