Nigeria: NIS pledges better service delivery, to conform with global best practices

MINA Blog- Nigerian Immigration Service ( (NIS) on Monday pledged to step up service delivery to Nigerians and conform with global best practices.

The Acting Comptroller–General of the Immigration Service (ACGIS), Mr Idris Jere said while delivering a keynote address at the opening ceremony of the Service’s Servicom customers week held virtually and online via Zoom, You- tube and Facebook, that the Service was no longer where it used to be, but would be getting better than ever.

The week-long NIS Servicom Customer Week kicked – off on Feb. 14 and would end on Feb.19.

The NIS boss pleaded with Nigerians to use the customer week to contribute constructive criticisms that would help the service improve its performance.

The National Coordinator and Chief Executive Officer ( CEO) of Servicom, Mrs Nnenna Akajemeli, at the launch, pleaded with NIS officers to adhere to the new appointment system in the passport offices.

She further advocated for collaborations between stakeholders in checking corruption .

Akajemeli said: “there was need for stronger collaboration between NIS and the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons ( NAPTIP), Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission and the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for efficient border management”.

The Deputy Comptroller- General of Immigration ( DCGI ) in charge of Visa and Residency Directorate, Mr Haliru Abdul, in his closing remarks, urged officers to shun corrupt practices.
