President Muhammadu Buhari has signed 16 constitution amendment bills and three others into law, alteration allowing states in the country to licence, generate, transmit, and distribute electricity.
A statement by Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters Senate, Babajide Omoworare noted that constitution amendment bills include, the one on financial independence of State Houses of Assembly and State Judiciary.
Other bills assented to by the President are those on the removal of the railway, prison and electricity from the exclusive legislative list to the concurrent list.
Mr President also assented to the bill that mandates the President and Governors to submit names of persons nominated as Ministers or Commissioners for confirmation to the Senate and State Assemblies within sixty days of taking oath of office.
