RCCG LP25 RMF Convention 2024: Experts address Nigeria’s Economic Outlook, business and career opportunities

Identifying and embracing opportunities for business and career development was the focus at 2024 RCCG Lagos Province 25, Redemer’s Men Fellowship (RMF) Convention held on Saturday at the Gateway Cathedral Lagos.

Addressing the theme: The Man Achiever, the Pastor in Charge, RCCG Lagos Province 25, Pastor Adel Oduntan urged men to be worthy ambassadors of Christ and the spiritual leaders in their home.
He charged the participants, comprising members of the Redeemer’s Men Fellowship from parishes under the province. According to him, “as leaders we will give account of our stewardship”.

He also encouraged the men to create multiple sources of income and to avoid communication gap within the family.

The Managing Director | Chief Economist Analysts, Data Services & Resources Ltd, Dr Afolabi Olowookere, used the platform to address the Nigeria’s economic outlook and opportunities for participants at the annual event.

He explained that the Nigeria’s economic outlook is influenced by a combination of domestic reforms, global economic conditions, oil market dynamics, and the effectiveness of monetary and fiscal policies.

“Nigerian economy is still battling the problems of slow growth, high inflation, a depreciating currency, and rapidly increasing debt” he said.

He assured that, there are still opportunities for business and career growth in Nigeria despite the present challenges facing the economy.

“The effects of recent policy reforms are still lingering, as businesses face high production costs and forex shortages. Growth is forecasted to reach 3.3% in 2024, and inflation is projected to reduce to 24% year-on- year. As we progress into the dynamic landscape of 2024, the diversification of the Nigerian economy still provides business opportunities and career development in several sectors”

“In 2024’Q1, for example, the share of GDP was largely dominated by agriculture (21.07%), ICT (17.89%), trade (15.70%), manufacturing (9.98%), financial and insurance (6.81%), amongst others.”

“The Q1’2024 growth of 2.98% is driven largely by the Financial & Insurance Sector, Other fast-growing sectors are Water Supply, Mining & Quarrying (largely crude oil and gas), ICT, and Arts & Entertainment”

He noted that, investing in agriculture in Nigeria can be a lucrative opportunity due to the country’s growing population and increasing demand for food products.
He also highlighted opportunities in Technology; Fintech, e-commerce, software development, and Tech Hubs and Workspace; Energy and Real Estate.

On his part, the President, RCCG Region 31 & Lagos Province 25, Redeemer’s Men Followship, Olabamiji Adeleye, setting agenda for the event, explained that the Convention provides an annual platform to address the four pillars of the fellowship which include Family, Finance, Faith and Fitness.

Among others, this year’s edition also featured empowerment and breakout sessions that focused on Agriculture value chains, anchored by Deputy Director, Lagos State Agriculture Development Authority, Mr Taye Amoreoluwa; Real Estate and proper Land documentation by Managing Director, Emadak Global Concept Ltd, Mr Emmanuel Akinlotan.

The fellowship also announced the fixtures for its maiden 5 aside Inter Zonal RMF Football Challenge that will kick off on Saturday July 6, 2024. It is expected to promote fitness and bonding among members under the province.
