Tourism: Ogun State govt shuts Olumo rock

The Ogun State Government has announced that the Olumo Rock tourist complex in Abeokuta will be closed on Monday.

According to a statement by the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Sesan Fagbayi, the temporary closure is to give room for renovation and facelift of the facility.

Fagbayi stated that the development was part of a broader commitment to revamp one of the state’s most iconic tourist destinations, improve visitors’ experience and ensure safety measures during the renovation.

He explained that Olumo Rock received over 70,000 tourists and visitors annually, stating that it needed a befitting outlook.

“The state government apologises to all tourists, visitors and the general public for any inconveniences the development might cause,” he stated.
