In a display of creativity and fresh ideas, Mass Communication students from higher institutions in Lagos and its environs competed in the Lagos PR Fest Pitch Competition and Mentorship Session.
The contest, which featured participants from YABATECH, Caleb University, Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), and LASUSTECH, focused on how communication can be used to promote the adoption of urban farming practices by busy city dwellers.
After a keenly contested session, OOU, Ago-Iwoye clinched the top prize, with LASUSTECH emerging as runner-up. The judging panel, made up of seasoned PR professionals, praised the innovative approaches and practical strategies showcased by the teams.
The pitch was followed by a mentorship session, where experts in the PR industry shared their career journeys, offering insights on how aspiring professionals can carve a niche and make an impact in the field.
This PR pitch and mentorship programme is part of activities marking the Lagos PR Fest 2025, which will culminate in a lecture on “Urban Farming for Food Security: The Role of Communication” scheduled for 14th August, 2025 at NIIA, Victoria Island
